PS3 slim skyrocket in sales

According to the info given in many other web pages like Eurogamer and Gamesindustry.biz including retail numbers the PS3 slim is a success in sales, almost or even over 1000%, Sony seems to be pleased with the sales due the new model and the new tag price of $299 US.

That's one of the main reasons, and the others are the announced games exclusive for PS3 like the remasterization of God of War 1 and 2 in Bluray format featuring Trophy support and the highly expected Uncharted 2

All points to this Christmas season will be a blast.

Firmware Update 3.00

Recently the PS3 got a new firmware update, the infamous FW 3.00. This update brings some aesthetic changes, but in functionality terms did not please the users, most of them were looking for features like Xchat or Cross chat, a feature from the XBL but needed in the PSN.

here is a list of the full features:

* Multi-Audio - Audio can now be output to multiple connectors simultaneously. You can set this option under [Settings] > [Sound Settings] > [Audio Multi Output].
* Video Content Playback - During Video content playback, you can now use the right stick to play content in slow playback, fast reverse, and fast forward.
* Settings Descriptions - Now below each setting option under the Settings tab on the XMB, there is now a brief description in small font.
* New Start Up Logo - Upon starting up your PS3, you will be greeted with the new ‘PS3′ Logo.
* Copy/Paste Function - There is now a copy/paste function for the web browser, and messages.
* Internet Connection Speed Test - Check your internet connection upload/download speed. Go to [Network Settings] > [Internet Connection Test]
* Internet Browser Screen Capture Feature - Press Triangle on Internet Browser, then under File > Save Screenshot.
* Custom Remote Play Settings - Manually set a device (such as a PSP system) to be used for remote play.
* New Avatar Support - Support for future additions of PSN avatars has been added. No new avatars have been added along with the firmware. However the support is there.
* “What’s New” – The “Information Board” will be replaced with a “What’s New” section, which allows you to enjoy interactive PlayStation news every time you start the PS3 system. Located under the PlayStation Network icon, “What’s New” displays the latest and greatest game, video, PlayStation Network and PlayStation news and releases, as well as your recently played games, in a sleek, new animated format.
* Status Indicator – In the top right corner we’ve added an indicator bar, which displays your user icon, friend icon, the number of friends you have online and a small message icon to let you know if you have any new messages. The indicator also includes a scrolling ticker that features the latest news from PlayStation Network. In addition, when you press the PS button, the battery life indicator will no longer cover up the clock.
* Friends List – Now your PlayStation Network friends will appear in a slightly redesigned format on your Friends List. Also, messages will now be viewable from each of your friends’ respective profiles.
* PlayStation Store Shortcuts – We’ve added a handy shortcut icon to the PlayStation Store under both the Game and Video categories so you can access the latest content quickly and easily.
* Personalization – Personalize your PS3 with new dynamic custom themes and avatars. Dynamic themes as well as free and premium avatars will be available through PlayStation Store. A dynamic theme takes your screen to a whole new level as it incorporates animated objects into the background.
* Trophies – Showcasing your hard earned trophies just got better. Update 3.00 gives game developers the ability to modify how they display trophies for add-on content. Base and add-on game trophies will continue to be combined into a single list so you can see where you stand in a game as a whole. Within that list, trophies will be broken out into subcategories—base trophies and add-on trophies—that way, you can easily view the percentage of your base game trophy collection, and separately track your trophy progress in add-on packs. Look for this enhancement to be included in upcoming games.

lukemorse1 last video

We as gamers had seen a ton of stuff, most of them bad stuff involving the social life, most of them because we support our lifestyle, it could be a disease if it goes beyond the reasonable and it needs to happen something really awful or drastic to make conscious on us to see what we are doing bad in that lifestyle.

This is the case of lukemorse1.

Boycott on Activision

Kotick, the president of Activision is considered now one of the most biggest Douchebag in gaming, Why? Because he is proposing to RAISE THE COST OF THE GAMES! the games are already expensive, and he is arguing that the games should cost more due the development cost, but I think this video is more informative:

Ray trace in games

One of the most important functions in rendering is the Ray trace, this function enables the most realistic environments in rendering.

One of the problems with the ray tracing, is the long process it involves because the simple calculus of the ray trace is heavy and consumes major part of the processing. This can be noticed in programs like 3d Studio Max, one of my favorites in rendering Architectural models, in which the simple task of render one frame takes a long time.

In consoles of current generation like the PS3 or the Xbox 360 both are capable of render real time raster renders, but Ray trace is far more complex, but it seems that the first console capable of real time ray trace could be the PS3, this is pretty daring considering that no actual console uses real time ray trace but it seems that the Killzone 2 engine is the first one in using raytrace, one of the debates about if the PS3 uses or not ray trace it's because no one believes in the raw power of the Cell processor, but we have to remind that the core of the Cell is a core designed for multitasking, and ray trace can be optimized for multicore processors, and the Cell is not fully optimized yet, we need to see what's next for the PS3 and see if it's possible that this console be the first in using this technology.

Valkyria Chronicles

Finally, I have some chapters of the animated version of the game Valkyria Chronicles, this is a game made by Sega exclusive for the PS3, a true masterpiece, because of the short manufacture of disc made by this company the game didn't had great sales, and the strange decision of make the second part for PSP.

The animation is an almost faithful path of the game, but it omits some parts and includes another, it has some echii touch in some scenes but it not abuse of it.

the charm of the game itself was the Canvas engine, it rendered cel-shaded graphics but with a touch of "water pencil" marks.

The episodes begins with the incursion of the empire in the Galian territory, and the meeting of Alicia with Welkin, but that's the precise moment of the invasion.

The rest of the story focuses on the fights with some pitch of romance, perfect for those who are looking the story thrama over a lovestory .

Aion Online

Recently I acquired a little MMO called Aion Online and found myself with the pleasant surprise that it's a beautiful game, I didn't bought any other MMO since WoW. I don't have anything against MMOs but I found that I'm a bit adicted to them if I found them enjoyable, and this one is enjoyable >_>

http://na.aiononline.com/global/includes/images/media/screenshots/screenshot05.jpg

Currently I'm playing the closed beta with a friend, of course, I will be playing it when it's release it. It uses the Cryengine for the graphics, and it doesn't seem to be nothing like Crysis 2 quality BUT, there are effects that really make you say "yep, it's the cryengine" but I think it's fine it's a little bit relaxed in quality, first is an MMO, second, not many people have Ubber PCs to run the game at max, the point is to make the game fun.

I just hope they don't erase my characters when they release the full retail.

Welcome

Ok this space is made from someone who don't have a life for the moment, I'm going to start putting game links, manga, anime and all that stuff geeks/nerds loves (and slowly being absorbed by people who thinks thats cool and call themselves "gamers" for playing Halo)
